Šrégom is an outdoor team race focused on terrain navigation, unusual orienteering challenges, and spending time in nature.
The goal of the competing teams is to pass through all checkpoints and be the first to reach the finish line. However, the locations of checkpoints are not known to the teams in advance. At the start, you only receive clues on how to reach the first checkpoint. At the first checkpoint, you will find clues on how to get to the next checkpoint... and so on until you reach the finish line.
The individual clues can take various forms. They could be an unusual map, special markers hidden in the terrain, coordinates, a puzzle, etc. Sometimes a checkpoint may require completing a physical activity (such as a rope obstacle).
The routes between checkpoints are not predetermined; it's up to you to decide how to get from point A to point B. You can go straight ahead regardless of what stands in your way, or you can look for a more accessible and faster route.
The race has one course divided into two sections. The optimal route spans over 15 + 10 kilometers through varied forest terrain (of course, there will be plenty of opportunities to get lost and extend the route). Both variants require adequate physical fitness.
The competition format lies somewhere between orienteering and outdoor puzzle-solving, so it will be familiar to fans of both events. At the same time, it is suitable for beginners, as it does not require long-term training; endurance and cleverness are what matter here.
Do you enjoy spending time in nature? Do you like discovering new places and finding your way forward? Can you push yourself to the limit? Then don't hesitate, and venture into the unknown with us!
12.-13. September 2026
Malé Karpaty. The exact location of the start will be provided to registered teams shortly before the competion.
Teams of three or four people can take part in the race.
The entry fee is 60 eur per team. The fee is used to cover the material costs of the race. The price is valid until August 15. From August 15 to August 29, the entry fee is 80 eur.
The race has one course divided into two sections with minimum lengths of 15 km and 10 km. You successfully complete the base category Šrégom by completing the first section. At its finish, your timer is paused and you can rest and refresh. Then you can start the second section, which enrolls you into the Šrééégom category. The final time in this category will be the sum of the time from the first and second sections. The start for both categories is the same and it's up to you whether you will continue to the second section or not.
Well, they come in all sorts of forms and will be very diverse :) The best way to get an idea of what might await you at Šrégom is by looking at last year’s challenges.
Yes. The race has one course divided into two sections: Šrégom and Šrééégom. Šrégom starts in the morning and we expect teams to finish before sunset. Bring headlamps just in case. Šrééégom starts after completing Šrégom, and a significant part may take place after sunset.
It's up to you. The course is designed so that it can be completed within the time limit even at a hiking pace. Of course, if you have enough energy and can maintain a faster pace, you will improve your chances of winning. Just be careful not to get lost in the process.
We will notify teams of these details shortly before the start of the race, no earlier than one week in advance. However, you can expect it to be in Malé Karpaty. The start will also be accessible by public transport. Since the start is staggered, each team will be assigned their own starting time.

The distances mentioned above are based on the optimal route. This is the route you would take if you never got lost and always chose the fastest path. In practice, this is not very realistic, and the actual distance covered by teams in previous editions was 20 to 40% longer. It also depends on team tactics (measure twice and cut once vs. run up and down the forest and hope you find it).
I first delved into event organization back in high school and quickly discovered just how fulfilling it is to make cool new experiences for people. When I took part in a Czech outdoor race KRAZ and experienced the sense of exploring the unknown, of finding my way regardless of what lies behind the corner, I knew this is the kind of experience I need to bring to more people. And so Šrégom was born.
Right now I lead a very sedentary life — I sit at a computer at work, and sit on a road bike after work, covering long distances. However, at Šrégom, I will try to ensure that you can avoid sitting and asphalt as much as possible! I enjoy playing and competing, especially when it requires engaging a few brain cells.
I enjoy spending time in nature, whether on a bike or on foot. I like solving ciphers and puzzles or organizing educational camps for children. In my free time, I am a doctoral student in mathematics. Šrégom combines my passion for nature and discovering unexplored places, racing against time, and teamwork.
Friends call me Mojo. Although I studied mathematics, I have been captivated by the world of active education, which I have been professionally involved in for the last four years, including nature expeditions for youth. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, cross-country skiing, and playing the guitar.
After my puzzle solving competition Suši took off, I missed being involved in organizing. I also had multiple instances where my co-organizers for the cipher competitions complained about the routes being too challenging. So, I decided it would be better to channel these tendencies into organizing Šrégom.
Hey, I'm Matúš. I enjoy organizing sports events. Some involve running (Malinový pohár), while others require finding your way. I love nature and panoramic views. I'll try to show you some that the hiking trails might not lead you to.
Hi! I'm Sofi and in my free time you'll find me in nature: at scout camps, hiking with friends,
or slowly accumulating kilometers on trails like the Camino de Santiago. I enjoy creating posts, stories and
reels that draw you into the action. I study archival science, so every day I explore old documents and discover
forgotten stories - an endless detective game through history.
